For many women, conversations about hormone therapy are filled with uncertainty, fear, and conflicting information. Statements such as “you can’t take hormones if you’ve had a blood clot” or “you can never use hormones after breast cancer” are often heard as absolute rules—but menopause care is rarely that simple. In this important and empowering discussion, a menopause-certified physician and breast cancer survivor will take a deeper look at the complexities of hormone therapy decision-making. This session will explore the true contraindications, individual risk factors, and medical considerations that influence whether hormone therapy may be appropriate—or not—for a woman’s unique health history.
Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how factors such as personal history of blood clots, cardiovascular risk, breast cancer history, age, timing of treatment, type of hormone therapy, and individual health goals are considered when evaluating options. Through an evidence-based and patient-centered approach, this session will highlight the importance of shared decision-making and moving beyond one-size-fits-all answers.
