Jessica Waugh is the Founder & CEO of The Pause Affect, where she helps women who know something is off but aren't getting answers.

After years of navigating her own health challenges while being told everything looked "normal," Jessica realized that most women don't need more information... they need help connecting the dots.

Today, she helps women uncover the connections between their symptoms, habits, life experiences, and the patterns that have shaped who they are.

Through her signature PAUSE Method™, she helps women stop questioning themselves, understand what their bodies have been trying to communicate, and reconnect with the woman they've always been.

Because healing doesn't begin with doing more. It starts with a pause.

Why are you passionate about helping women through perimenopause and menopause?

Perimenopause changed my life long before I understood that was what I was experiencing. I was in my thirties, doing everything I had always done to take care of myself, yet my body was responding differently. Like so many women, I kept searching for answers, questioning myself, and trying harder.

That experience showed me the enormous gap between what women are experiencing and what they understand about their own bodies. But I’ve also learned that this transition is about so much more than hormones. It often exposes the patterns we’ve carried for years: pushing through, taking care of everyone else, tying our worth to what we accomplish, and ignoring what our bodies are asking for.

I’m passionate about helping women connect those dots so they can stop questioning themselves, understand what is happening, and use this transition as an opportunity to step into the woman they have always been meant to be.

Who is the ideal woman you serve?

The ideal woman I serve is the woman who has spent most of her life being the one who can handle everything. She’s capable, driven, dependable, and used to pushing through, but suddenly the strategies that have always worked for her aren’t working anymore.

She may be experiencing changes in her energy, sleep, mood, focus, body, or confidence and wondering why she no longer feels like herself. She knows something needs to change, but she doesn’t need another person telling her to simply do more.

She’s ready to understand what’s actually happening, uncover the patterns that may no longer be serving her, and learn how to work with her body instead of constantly pushing against it.

What concerns do women most commonly come to you for?

Women most commonly come to me because they simply don’t feel like themselves anymore. They’re experiencing things like fatigue, brain fog, sleep changes, weight changes, mood shifts, anxiety, digestive issues, or changes in their confidence and motivation, often without understanding why.

Many have already tried doing “all the right things” and are frustrated that what used to work no longer does. They want help connecting the dots between their hormones, symptoms, lifestyle, habits, and the deeper patterns that may be affecting how they feel, so they can finally understand what their body is asking for instead of continuing to push through.

What makes your approach unique?

What makes my approach unique is that I don’t look at symptoms in isolation or assume hormones are the whole story. I help women connect the dots between their symptoms, hormones, habits, lifestyle, life experiences, and the patterns they’ve developed over years of pushing through and taking care of everyone else.

Using my PAUSE Method™, we look at the whole picture to understand not just what is happening, but why. Instead of giving women another list of things to do, I help them understand themselves and their bodies differently so they can make changes that actually fit the woman they are becoming.

What is one thing you wish every woman knew about perimenopause or menopause?

I wish every woman knew that perimenopause and menopause are about so much more than hot flashes and periods ending, and that perimenopause can begin in your 30s, and for a small number of women, even earlier. It isn’t simply age-dependent. It’s system-dependent, which is why every woman’s experience can look so different.

This transition can affect nearly every part of how you feel and function, often years before you realize hormones may be involved. The sooner you understand what is changing in your body, the sooner you can stop questioning yourself, get the right support, and make informed decisions about what you need.

What should someone expect when working with you?

When working with me, you can expect to be seen as a whole person, not a collection of symptoms. We slow down enough to connect the dots between what you’re experiencing, your hormones, lifestyle, habits, history, and the patterns that may be influencing how you feel.

I’m not here to hand you another overwhelming list of things you “should” be doing. Together, we figure out what actually matters for you, simplify where we can, and create realistic changes that work with your body and your life. My goal is for you to leave with a deeper understanding of yourself, greater trust in your body, and the tools to advocate for what you need.

What is the best first step for someone who wants to connect with you?

The best first step is simply to connect with me. You don’t need to know exactly what you need or have everything figured out before reaching out. That’s part of what we uncover together.

Whether you’re looking for education, community, or more personalized support, we can start with where you are, what you’re experiencing, and what kind of support would be most helpful for you right now. You can connect with me directly through my website at ThePauseAffect.com.
