Why are you passionate about helping women through perimenopause and menopause?
This is a no-brainer. Traditional Chinese Medicine has a vast scope in OBGYN as well as pregnancy, childbirth, peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause. (If the Empress of China was vain, believe me, Acupuncture covers everything for this.)
Who is the ideal woman you serve?
I treat menstrual & peri-menopausal discomfort including irregular periods, dryness of skin and vaginal dryness, and irritability. I also help women who want to get pregnant but are having difficulty either getting pregnant or difficulty maintaining a pregnancy, have had miscarriages, or would like help with IVF. I also see women for Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture regarding telltale lines on their face. I help you to feel like yourself, the way you want to feel.
What concerns do women most commonly come to you for?
I treat pain and stress, both physical and emotional. Life can get very busy between home and work and family members pulling you in different directions. I help women reconnect with their bodies. Often their time in my clinic is the only "Me time" they manage to get, so it is important to keep that connection.
What makes your approach unique?
I have trained in China as well as in an Ivy League acupuncture school. My background in movement can be very useful in analyzing body strains. I frequently teach about foods that alleviate perimenopausal symptoms; and I am a Diplomat of Chinese Herbology as well as being familiar with many western herbal remedies. We consider food to be therapeutic firstling of medicine, so we encourage patients in a gentle path towards restoring balance.
What is one thing you wish every woman knew about perimenopause or menopause?
These are natural stages of life, not something to be fearful about. There can be humor & grace as we figure out what exactly is happening with your body & the stresses you are experiencing.
What should someone expect when working with you?
When I see a new patient for the first time we do a detailed intake much like a gentle interview to understand what patterns may be happening. This is followed by TCM [non-invasive] tongue & pulse diagnosis to assess how we are going to begin the treatment. Therefore each patient's experience is tailored to them.
What is the best first step for someone who wants to connect with you?
